- I needed to store my belongings and furniture for the summer because I was spending my summer out of town, and my apartment leases didn't overlap in time. Most storage spaces in Berkeley have mixed reviews that are pretty hit or miss, but I decided to gamble with the Public Storage on Harrison Street. I don't know why they received bad reviews because Public Storage had everything I needed without any fuss. All my belongings were safe and secure, the storage space was clean, and everything was in its place when I returned 3 months later to pick it up. Would definitely recommend!

- Their requirement to have insurance on my property is an upgrade scam. I have my own renters insurance that covers me but they still insisted on me purchasing theirs for a month while I got official documentation of mine. When I insisted on using my own insurance they told me they would not rent to me. They eventually did but not without extreme resistance and horrible attitude.

- I am a single woman in my early 20ﾃ｢竄ｬ邃｢s renting a unit at this facility. My unit is indoors on the second floor of a long, mostly unlit hallway. I often drop off my items alone and expected a certain level of security which was not present. Upon arriving to my unit this past Monday evening, there were no cars in the facility but mine. I loaded my things into the lift to transfer to my unit and my biggest fear came to life. There was a tall, middle aged white man lurking in the long hallway as I entered the second floor of the building. He immediately began to slowly approach me, asking me if I wanted to see the jewelry and accessories he had in his unit. When I said no thank you, he continued to approach. I ran of out the building, leaving all of my things in the lift. I waited in my car for another customer to drive up and was lucky enough to encounter a kind man who escorted me to my unit to protect me from the man in the hallway. He continued to try to offer me things and approach even with the escort. It became obvious as we walked past his unit that he was living there or using it as a partial living space. I was able to finish my load but am dreading having to return. Extra space has NO 24 hour security, NO security phone number to call after hours, and obviously NO regulations over what someone can use the space for. There should not be a man living in a unit in the building, especially not one who is a threat to the safety and security of customers, especially other young women like myself. INCREDIBLY disappointed with this facility.

- I locked in a rate of 138$ and a few months later I was given a month heads up that the new price was 50$ more. No negotiation - no reason-. Very surprising to see such a huge increase. I appealed to the worker there who said she would write a request letter and I would just know the answer based on my next bill - which ended up being the same raised price. I have also been texted before being told that I made too much noise with their very loud carts and accusing me of hiding a cart in my unit which was untrue.

- While the location is less than perfect overall if, like me, you are without a car, the pricing cannot be beat! I was renting a smaller unit at a (slightly) more convenient place, but was paying almost twice as much! The savings alone makes up for the time to get there by bus. Otherwise, the customer service was wonderful - Both Melissa and Jordan made me feel welcome and valued as a customer . . . Which is an all-important factor to me.

- I wandered into a nearby Public Storage looking for a 5x10 storage unit. The local facility was completely full and had no available units. She quickly looked up her inventory online, contacted another, nearby Public Storage and asked them to hold the unit for me. Then, she gave me the name of the person at the other location and driving directions! When I arrived, Stacey was ready for me, toured the unit to make sure it met my needs and expectations and then efficiently handled the paperwork. She even got me to sign up for autopay, which I don't typically do! This was truly a great customer service experience. I am so glad I visited my local Public Storage location!!
