- Impressed with how streamlined the process from start to finish was. Made online reservation, then got a follow up call almost immediately to ensure the unit met my needs and to set an appointment to come in to secure the unit. I did the express check in online so that my personal information was in the system prior to arrival. And when I arrived the manager had everything ready. She was pleasant and organized. She escorted me to the unit, had me confirm that unit worked for my needs, and handed me the keys. Then went back to the office to sign the contract electronically on an iPad. I appreciated the updated process, as the use of modern technology makes the process much more efficient, and no need to print out a bunch of documents that I'd have to keep track of. The following are the negatives that affected my giving a 4 star rating instead of a 5: First, the manager claimed that I was required to buy extra insurance for my unit, which is an additional monthly charge. However, when I actually read the agreement it did not state it was required and that if you have homeowners or renters insurance your valuables may be covered. She said that most of those type of insurance policies have very limited coverage. Which I still need to follow up with my insurance agent to determine. I don't appreciate hidden fees or adding fees. When I reserved the unit, it was based on price and location. The cost was the deciding factor in comparison to other storage facilities. Therefore, to be coerced into another $15 dollars a month was not something I appreciated. Second, these units use cylinder locks instead of the padlocks or disc style locks. And, then the manager sells you one of the PS locks. But, I'm locking away things that are valuable to myself, so I wanted to see what my options were. She said that she did not know of any places that you could buy your own cylinder lock from. That other customers had said they couldn't find them in stores such as Home Depot, OSH, or Ace. And that the keys she handed me is to the lock that she was going to charge me for. My first reaction was well how do I know this is a new lock or that someone doesn't have a copy of the key? So I asked. She said it was and they open them and do it that way so that it makes things much smoother. Which is a valid point, I get it. And, she said that she had no problem grabbing an unopened one in a package for me. I was present with my truck packed ready to move in, so I just said ok and she added the $20 to my move in bill. That being said, I'm sure the two points above are due to a corporate policy and training. So, I don't hold the manager necessarily accountable, as she was most likely just doing her job. And, overall I was pleased with the customer service she provided and the cost for what I needed.

- The Pandemic of 2020 wreaked havoc of both my professional and personal stability. My company initially closed temporarily that eventually became a permanent closure. Soon after this loss, my living situation required downsizing considerably. These circumstances required the storage of my cherished and prized possessions. I have rented two units from Public Storage at different times in this pandemic and as a long time business owner, I am keen on both top tier customer service and practiced professionalism. The staff at the two different Public Storage facilities made me still feel worthy during these tough times by demonstrating compassion and concern by providing a smooth transition into a new "normal".
Thank you for your business model practiced throughout your organization.

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Newark, California is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout California, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Newark, California.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.
Are there free storage deals in Newark, California?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Newark?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
