- I needed a place to put some furniture while preparing to move. I chose this place because it is relatively close to my home and they offer a first month's discount. This location is not staffed; you use a kiosk, either in self-serve mode or by talking to a remote customer service person. The service that I received was good, however, in order to return the supplied padlock and receive a refund, I had to visit a Public Storage facility a few blocks away that was staffed. When I went to my locker to change the lock, the door to gain access to the elevators was locked. I took the stairs, but this would be a problem for people who were moving their furniture in or out.

- I was looking for a small storage unit to keep things in for a while. The extra space storage had the best location, price and wide selection of options. You could have an outside drive up or inside climate controlled unit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recomend this facility for your storage needs.

- What made this 5 stars was the customer service. Jenyfer (spelling?) was incredibly helpful all day, despite being extremely busy with many other customers. She managed the work load well and always went the extra mile to make a stressful move go smoothly for me.
The move-in appointment was also on time, which is surprising given the number of walk-in customers.
The prices here were a bit cheaper than other locations. Yes, it's a little old and outdated but you're not living there :) It seemed like a secure location and she gave me tips to make it more secure.

- SHARMIKA & SHERRY are the best workers at this facility. They deserve a SECURITY guard on duty. They're soooo HELPFUL, PLEASANT & just GREAT PEOPLE who do their jobs WELL. They actually take PRIDE in what they do. If I could rate them 10 STARS I would, they took great care of my MOTHER & I truly APPRECIATE their help. I miss JESSICA she's also a GREAT MANAGER & JORDON was AWESOME as a DISTRICT MANAGER. JESSICA is at a NEW LOCATION but she should've been the NEW DISTRICT MANAGER. I feel like IRIS could've done MORE for my mother than she did.

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Sausalito, California is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout California, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Sausalito, California.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.
Are there free storage deals in Sausalito, California?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Sausalito?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
Sausalito lies along Richardson Bay between steep hills and San Francisco Bay, so storage demand often spikes among residents in smaller hillside homes or houseboats who need off-site space for bulky outdoor gear or water equipment like kayaks. The city’s limited land area means fewer storage facilities are available, and they often fill faster than in inland Marin County cities.
Residents packing surfboards, bicycles, or other outdoor gear common in a bayfront community may prefer drive-up units because of Sausalito’s hilly terrain and steep grades near neighborhoods like Sunnyside or Schoonmaker Point. Seasonal events and boating activity in Richardson Bay can create periodic demand for non-standard unit sizes, especially in late spring and summer when marine equipment moves in and out of use.
Long-term renters in Sausalito sometimes see seasonal price changes tied to housing turnover and tourism seasons, since many units serve residents between Bay Area moves. Renting in winter or early spring, when fewer tourists and movers are active, can lead to slower turnover and steadier rates.
Parts of Sausalito fall within Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, especially near the hills above Bonita Street and in the Hurricane Gulch neighborhood. When selecting storage insurance, check whether the policy covers wildfire risk, as some areas have limited coverage or higher premiums. Always confirm the storage facility’s address when checking for risk-based surcharges or coverage limits.
