I have had my things in storage for 14 months at Prime Storage in Asheville, NC on Bleachery Blvd. It was seemingly fine the first 10 months. I started noticing a mold smell on entering the building. The temperature that use to be so cool I had to wear a jacket in the summer months of 2021. Summer 2022 I came in and did not need to wear a jacket, it was warm, my clothes in the unit were damp, and I started to see mold on furniture. By the time I emptied my unit on 9/6/22, all my furniture had mold on it. I had to throw away my living room furniture, bed, and anything with material on it. The remediation people said none of that could be saved. I had insurance on my contents, but it does NOT cover mold. So the insurance was useless. I have since talked with the General Property Manager, Regional Manager, District Manager and now awaiting a call from the VP. Will they replace my contents that have been ruined and pay for remediation? Will they pay for my rent in an apartment that I can't live in because of the mold that I brought into it (unknowingly how bad it was). Will they pay for the place to live for 6 weeks before a remediation company can come start work? Will they pay the $5136 I paid for the past 14 months for a service of CLIMATE CONTROL that was NOT climate controlled? That remains to be seen and I will update this review when the VP contacts me. I spoke to other people who rented there and they were having trouble with mold as well. You can smell mold now when you go through the glass doors into the building. This was not just in my unit. Trust me. Save yourselves and your valuables. Do not use this facility. NOT to mention, they increased my rate by 27.8% over a 9 month period. They bring you in with a low rate and start increasing at 6 months.
