- Reserved a 5x5 on the phone Saturday get a call the next day after we had loaded up the truck that our particular unit is on the 2nd floor w/ no elevator but stairs. Not what we confirmed on Saturday. Bad business tactics.
Ended up saying "NO thanks" and went elsewhere.
When we complained they offered to "allow us to trade up" but of course and a higher price. SHADY BAIT and SWITCH TACTICS. They have good prices but you will prob never get the "one left" unit that they have for the lowest price.
look elsewhere!!!

Find a Storage Unit For Rent Near You
Fort Belvoir RV & Trailer Storage 10155 Johnston Rd, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060 703-805-1226
Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Fort Belvoir, Virginia is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout Virginia, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.
Are there free storage deals in Fort Belvoir, Virginia?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Fort Belvoir?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
Fort Belvoir sits along U.S. Route 1, a corridor that often experiences heavy traffic during morning and evening rush hours. This slows access to storage units and increases demand for facilities near alternate routes such as Telegraph Road and Richmond Highway. Richmond Highway (U.S. 1) is part of the Embark Richmond Highway plan, which includes bus rapid transit lanes that may change how residents and service members commute. The proximity of Mount Vernon and Woodlawn, both part of the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria metro area, raises storage demand because many mid-century and split-level homes lack garage space.
Fort Belvoir’s riverside location on the Potomac keeps humidity high year-round, with averages climbing above 80% in the summer. This makes climate-controlled storage units necessary to protect items like musical instruments, archival documents, and military gear with electronics. Because of high turnover from PCS (Permanent Change of Station) orders and deployments, military families often reserve these units early. Rental costs in the Route 1 corridor are shaped by Fairfax County’s tiered zoning, which limits large commercial projects near military sites, reducing supply and raising demand.
Mid-sized units, typically 10x10 or 10x15, are widely used by active-duty service members facing PCS relocations that can come with as little as 30 days' notice. Civilian contractors at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), both on base, also prefer these units. Civilian residents in Hayfield and Newington, where postwar split-level homes are common, often rent these units because the houses lack crawlspace or attic storage. Some renters also store bulk groceries or emergency supplies to make up for limited pantry space in smaller homes.
Commercial storage demand rises near the Franconia–Springfield corridor, where logistics firms on Backlick Road use large 10x30 units to handle seasonal inventory surges. This is most common during procurement cycles for federal contracts handled by local vendors in the Springfield Business District. Vehicle storage for Class B motorhomes and utility trailers is in high demand in Lorton, where homeowners’ associations, including those in Laurel Hill and Crosspointe, enforce strict rules on driveway and street parking. The proximity to I-95 and the Fairfax County Parkway also makes Lorton attractive for long-term vehicle storage among RV owners traveling between northern Virginia and Florida on the East Coast corridor.
