What You Shouldn't Do When Moving

Moving small items in a car may work better for you, especially if you are tight on money. Here are some ideas on how to use a car for the best results.
How To Pack Your Car For a Move

Beyond full-service movers and hired labor, two cost-effective alternatives, PODS units and rental moving trucks, offer flexibility but differ in logistics, pricing, and the physical effort involved. PODS, which stands for Portable On Demand Storage, works well for staggered moves or storage-focused transitions, especially in cities where on-site loading flexibility matters. Rental trucks from companies like Penske or U-Haul are better for direct moves when time is limited.
Moving Containers and Rental Trucks

When you are hiring a moving company, make sure to check what their policy is on non-transportable items. This guide lists examples of items that movers cannot transport.

Wow is all I have to say I've had things in storage at five or six storage businesses in local areas and by far is this better than any I've used previously. The customer service in the following was great the lady in the office was super sweet the facility is spotless plenty of room to back the truck in for those of us who don't have great experience at that lock the gate with a code always a plus and then the prices were lower than everybody else around

The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Clarkesville, Georgia.

  • Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.

  • For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.

  • Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.

  • Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.

  • Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.

  • The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.

  • Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
  • Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.

  • Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.

  • Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.

  • Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.

Are there free storage deals in Clarkesville, Georgia?

Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.

How do I find the cheapest storage in Clarkesville?

You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.

What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.

Clarkesville, in Habersham County, is known for its scenic beauty and outdoor recreation, especially its proximity to attractions like Tallulah Gorge State Park, a popular spot for hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing. A drive-up storage unit is great for storing gear like camping equipment, fishing rods, or kayaks, which are commonly used in the area. Lake Russell and Panther Creek trails are nearby, making this an ideal storage option for outdoor enthusiasts who often explore the area's natural attractions.

Facilities on the outskirts of Clarkesville, especially along the Soque River, may offer lower prices than those in town. These locations are convenient for storing fishing gear, as the Soque River is famous for trophy trout, and benefit from lower real estate costs, making them a budget-friendly option for long-term storage.
