Moving day can be hectic. Are you ready? Even with good planning, last-minute tasks can be forgotten. This checklist helps you stay on track by covering key details like securing fragile items, coordinating with movers, and transferring utilities. Use this guide for a smooth move.
Moving Day Checklist

There are different types of boxes and packing supplies designed for household moves. Learn more about boxes and materials when you're ready to move.
Types of Moving Boxes

You can save in many ways when moving, but it’s easy to spend more than planned if you’re unprepared when the movers arrive. Many people lose money by skipping early steps, such as checking a mover’s USDOT registration through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Protect Your Move database or misunderstanding how binding and non-binding estimates change the final price. Planning ahead, comparing verified carriers, and knowing your rights under federal moving rules can help you avoid extra costs and stay on budget, whether you hire full-service movers or labor-only help.
Prevent Money Loss When You Move

Moving as a single parent is never easy, but it doesn't have to be so stressful that you want to give up. This guide will help you cover the most important steps.
How To Move As a Single Mother

When you move, your belongings face more risk during packing, transit, and temporary storage. Many renters assume their insurance automatically protects their property during the move, but coverage often depends on how the move happens, where items are stored, and whether professional movers are involved.

Some policies extend protection beyond the apartment, while others limit coverage after items leave the insured address. Understanding these policy limits before moving can prevent coverage gaps and unexpected out-of-pocket costs.
Does Renters Insurance Cover Moving?

Self-storage facilities limit certain items to prevent damage, theft, pests, or legal problems. Common banned items include flammable chemicals, perishable food, live animals, and firearms. These rules are not only about safety. They also help facilities keep insurance coverage, follow state laws, and lower liability.

Many restrictions match those used by moving companies since both face similar transport and safety concerns. Understanding these rules can help you avoid accidental violations and protect your belongings and nearby units.

I am incredibly happy with this storage company and location. The facility is in a safe neighborhood and the interior and exterior are spotlessly clean. The local owner is very friendly and helpful and took the time to show me everything. He did not try to rush me, and made sure I understood everything. The building is fairly new, and the storage door is easy to open and close. I previously rented from this location when it was under different management. I also had a stellar experience when I rented here previously. Highly recommend this facility for climate-controlled storage.

It was never cleaned despite the email saying it was being cleaned for me. There was glass, an empty beer bottle…. The one employee I interacted with was really unpleasant. The other (Deanna) was great. Keys/lock are overpriced - clearly being gouged. Office is a mess. Seems to be just another scummy storage company.

It was a little hard to figure out how to work the lock for the unit, but once we did it was simple after. The unit was very cleaned and customer service was very nice. Paperwork didnテ「竄ャ邃「t take long at all. I think the pricing is just a little steep, but this is my first time getting a unit so it could just be me. I just think that Iテ「竄ャ邃「m paying over $100 a month, I should be able to access 24/7.

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout Wisconsin, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs.

The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.

  • Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.

  • For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.

  • Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.

  • Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.

  • Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.

  • The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.

  • Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
  • Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.

  • Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.

  • Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.

  • Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.

What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
