- The on site staff was very helpful. Jennifer explained everything in just the right level of detail, showed me the space, it looked a couple of inches shy to me so she graciously and without hesitation found me the same size unit that looked a couple inches more generous, and it made a big difference on move day as I needed every inch. She was helpful, friendly, and provided exemplary customer service. My only negative comment is that the online rental process did NOT inform me that I would be OBLIGATED to buy insurance. By the time move day showed up, it was too late, I had to move in. Storage companies should inform customers before they commit what the total charges are so that a comparison can be made between companies.

- End unit has step down in cement floor to keep items an inch or so higher, assume for water intrusion. This makes level portion of floor six inches smaller on two sides so not truly 5x10 of level floor space. Also end unit moderately dirty from leaves/ dust blowing in under metal wall sheathing. Move in a bit challenging for non computer savvy. Took a bit but it eventually did work and gate code received via cell phone.

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Wood River, Illinois is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout Illinois, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Wood River, Illinois.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.
Are there free storage deals in Wood River, Illinois?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Wood River?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
Many storage facilities sit along Illinois Route 111 and Edwardsville Road, which makes them easy to reach from downtown and nearby East Alton. Choosing a facility near Route 143 saves time for residents who commute between Wood River and Edwardsville.
Facilities near Wood River’s Wesley Center or Madison Avenue often face higher demand, which affects pricing. For lower rates, look at facilities on the southern edge of town near the Phillips 66 Refinery, where demand is lighter. Facilities south of East Alton along Route 140 often have the lowest rates because these areas are less congested and attract fewer short-term renters.
Climate-controlled storage in Illinois usually costs 20 to 40 percent more than drive-up units. In Wood River’s humid summers and freezing winters, climate control helps prevent warping, mold, and rust on items such as wooden furniture or electronics. As a rule of thumb, if replacing the items costs more than the three-month rent difference, climate control is the better value.
Most homeowners or renters insurance policies cover stored items but limit coverage to 10 percent of your personal property value. If you have $50,000 in covered items, that equals only $5,000 of protection. Facility insurance can cover the gap, but it adds a monthly cost. Compare policies before automatically accepting the facility’s plan.
