Moving a refrigerator is a difficult task, and you may want to hire professional movers. However, if you have someone to help you and the right equipment, the following guide will help you prepare and move your fridge.
How to Move a Refrigerator by Yourself

If you are hiring professionals or helpers, it is a good idea to dispose of any unwanted furniture or household items before the move. The transportation cost of some items may exceed their value.
Sell Your Junk and Save On a Move

Hidden fees can raise your total cost if you skip a careful review of the rental terms. Some rentals charge by the mile, which can add up quickly on longer trips. Fuel fees may apply if you return the tank below the starting level, and some companies charge higher rates for prepaid fuel.

Optional insurance is often added at checkout, even when your personal auto policy or credit card already covers the rental. Late return fees are often charged by the hour rather than by the day, so confirm the exact return time in writing.
Hidden Truck Rental Fees

You can save in many ways when moving, but it’s easy to spend more than planned if you’re unprepared when the movers arrive. Many people lose money by skipping early steps, such as checking a mover’s USDOT registration through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Protect Your Move database or misunderstanding how binding and non-binding estimates change the final price. Planning ahead, comparing verified carriers, and knowing your rights under federal moving rules can help you avoid extra costs and stay on budget, whether you hire full-service movers or labor-only help.

Jay was very kind, considerate friendly and helpful. He knows his job and executes is well. What was disappointing was that your online registration system would not allow me to set up an account so I had to do everything at the facility. There was a definite shortage of carts and a very long way to my unit. I understand that there will be a closer entrance in June. I hope that's the case.

My husband and I needed to move quickly with this Corona virus. I went online and reserved a storage unit. I was called and set up an appointment for the next day. I got all the paperwork taken care of and I started moving in immediately. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and informative. He was kind enough to offer the use of a dolly and a broom to sweep the floor of my new storage unit. This was my first experience renting a storage unit and I am extremely grateful it went so smoothly. Thank you guys!!

I made a reservation over the phone, and a spoke to a woman named Jasmine. She was very pleasant and helpful too the point where I rushed to the store to purchase a unit from her. Once my spouse and I got to the place she showed us two units. I told her about how my day has been going . She was very professional and knew what she was doing. Her customer service was 100% (scale 1-100) I would love to see more employees with the same spirit as her. Give her pat on the back for us and thank you

Good location Basically new Very clean One issue I had is a saw door on first floor can be left in open position easily meaning people can enter without code so that’s a massive security risk Also there aren’t security cameras on each floor except elevator area which means there is no monitoring of the hallways or corridors for personal safety or criminal activity

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Calabasas, California is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout California, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs.

The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Calabasas, California.

  • Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.

  • For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.

  • Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.

  • Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.

  • Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.

  • The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.

  • Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
  • Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.

  • Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.

  • Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.

  • Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.

Are there free storage deals in Calabasas, California?

Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.

How do I find the cheapest storage in Calabasas?

You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.

What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.

When choosing a storage unit in Calabasas, consider local factors that affect pricing and availability. Storage near popular neighborhoods like Mulholland Heights, The Oaks, or Mountain View Estates tends to cost more because of high demand and limited space.

Storage facilities farther from central areas like The Commons at Calabasas or Malibu Canyon Road usually have lower rates. Storage units in nearby areas like Woodland Hills or Agoura Hills often cost less due to lower demand while staying convenient.

For high-value items like antiques, musical instruments, or wine collections, look for storage with climate control and strong security. Premium storage near Old Town Calabasas often includes temperature-controlled units, 24/7 surveillance, and concierge services for specialized needs.

If you need long-term storage or space for bulky items, consider locations near less busy areas like Las Virgenes Road to save money without losing quality. Some storage facilities in Calabasas work with local movers to offer full-service options, a helpful perk for those moving locally.
