- Upon nearly completing move in, district manager Clarissa tells me that Extra Space no longer wants me as a customer. So after I spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on moving trucks, deposits, moving help etc., Extra Space decided that they no longer wanted me as a client and that I would have to move my things elsewhere. They said that they would refund my money for the units, however that does not include the cost of the truck I had to rent for several days and the cost of the help I hired. I am a small business owner and have been building, refurbishing bicycles for years. I had an excellent customer service relationship with the manager of the store I was at on Southern in Tempe. Out of nowhere Alex, the manager, was transferred to a different Extra Space and suddenly I started getting harassed by assistant/interim managers saying that I could only be on the property for an hour. I wanted to continue to enjoy the benefits of the long standing working relationship that I had with Extra Space, so I decided to move to this different location thinking things would be as good as they were before, back to normal. I was so wrong! I spent hundreds of dollars on the move, the help, the packing materials, etc , just to be told before I completed the move of my 10x10 and my 12x25 that I was no ,longer welcome at Extra Space. They said they'd reimburse the money for the units, but obviously that did not include the funds for the truck, my time, the help I received, or the packing materials I've had to use as a result. For years I've had nothing but positive things to say about Extra Space, this ridiculous situation has been hurtful beyond explanation. There is no reason to cause such problems for a customer who has done nothing wrong and is working on getting his business off the ground for the first time. When I asked the district manager, Clarissa, for an explanation/proof regarding any violation she was unable to do so.

- I searched a few places nearby and the prices were more than Public Storage. They have a great deal right now. Connie was super helpful and asked me if I needed anything that would help such as a lock, moisture absorber, mattress bag, and insurance. I purchased all and came out on top. I would have forgotten some of these items had she not asked me. I highly recommend purchasing the moister absorber especially for AZ. I know you may be reading this to help in your search for storage units and sometimes there will be a review that will make you second guess doing business with Public Storage. Just know that there will always be someone who is going to leave a bad review due to a misunderstanding. Everything is explained up front which is why they ask you to come in person. I am very skeptical and will always ask questions. Don't sign anything if you are not sure about something. Simple! As a side note, the reservation contract begins the day you reserve a spot. Example, if you reserve on the 1st and won't move in until the 25th, your reservation and costs begin on the 1st when you make the initial reservation. They are upfront about this. We make it harder for ourselves when we don't understand. It's ok to ask questions. Almost forgot, they have an app you can use so you don't have to get out of your car to open the gate! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

- I moved into my storage unit and was pleasantly surprised at how clean the units are and there are cameras everywhere. I did have an error with the the computer when I typed in my access code, but the office manager was friendly, personable and professional. The office manager was able to get my access code reset. He helped me with a smile and a great attitude, even when the computer system gave him a little trouble and it was the end of his work day on a Friday. After contacting IT, we we're still getting an error. He made me feel welcomed and without hesitation, politely told me he would contact the corporate office to get the code working and email me once it was done. He did just that, I got an email the next day to let me know my access code was fixed. I will recommend this storage to my friends and a big plus is that all the units are inside and climate controlled. No dust from Arizona sandstorms on anything. I am super pleased with selecting 51st Ave self-storage
