- For the price of the unit i don't really have any complaints. But a few concerns if you are looking. One of the access doors was broken when I rented a unit out. I read a review on google and someone mentioned this 4 weeks prior to me arriving. So yeah not the most "secure". I noticed they have mice bait inside the units and there was mice feces. A wide open door doesn't help that situation.
Don't store anything mice will chew on or live in. Keep your stuff sealed and maybe put some mice traps (not glue) around the unit.

- The storage unit and its facilities were excellent. Customer service rep on site went above and beyond to assist me with finding the right sized storage unit and to provide moving trolleys to help with moving the stuff to the unit. Excellent, excellent service! They even have a small truck that you can use for free as long as you are a customer! Reasonable prices! Couldn't have asked for a better storage facility.

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Winthrop, Massachusetts is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout Massachusetts, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Winthrop, Massachusetts.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.
Are there free storage deals in Winthrop, Massachusetts?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Winthrop?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
Winthrop is a compact coastal town in Suffolk County, bordered by Boston Harbor and Revere, which limits land available for large-scale commercial development. Because nearly all properties are residential and the town covers just over one square mile, storage demand comes mainly from apartment dwellers rather than homeowners. According to U.S. Census data, Winthrop has a higher population density than most Massachusetts suburbs, which leads to tighter storage availability. Proximity to Logan International Airport also affects land use and traffic patterns related to storage access.
Storage access is heavily influenced by limited road corridors, particularly MA Route 145 (Winthrop Parkway and Revere Beach Parkway), which serves as the main connection to Revere and the greater Boston area. During the summer, traffic increases along this route due to beach activity near Winthrop Beach and Deer Island, which affects access during peak hours. Because the town lacks highways, storage locations closer to Route 145 often see higher demand. These access constraints can influence local storage pricing and availability.
Because of Winthrop’s compact geography and dense residential areas like Cottage Park and Point Shirley, drive-up storage units are limited and are more common along Route 145 near the Revere city line. Consider searching just outside Winthrop’s center if you plan to store large household items and need vehicle access.
If you live in Metcalf Square or the Centre neighborhood, where many multi-family buildings lack basement or attic storage, review your renter’s insurance policy to see whether it includes off-site storage coverage. Some storage facilities near the Winthrop Golf Club require proof of third-party insurance before confirming a unit.
