This place was a bit closer and a bit less expensive than where I was storing my RV before. Onsite manager is nice.

The facility is clean and easy to get to. The registration process was smooth. My only comment is I was told I had to have insurance for my belongings and I had to buy it from Public Storage. I wasn't expecting that expense and if I had known that ahead of time I could have gotten insurance for probably less than I am having to pay through Public Storage.

I've never rented a storage space before, because I'm pretty cheap, but my family is moving and we needed to get some extra space quickly to get the house ready. Public Storage has locations everywhere, but most importantly there is one within a mile of my house, the price was very competitive, the office manager was super nice and responsive, and the facility is very clean. We'll use Public Storage again in the future for sure.

My only disappointment was that I was forced to pay an additional $11 per month for insurance. This was not disclosed when I reserved the unit. This is from my email reservation: Storage Celebration Sale: $105.00 One-Time Admin Fee: $24.00 Total Move-In Cost: $129.00 The actual move-in cost was $140 which feels like switch and bait since this was never mentioned anywhere in the reservation and now I have to pay $116 per month instead of $105 per month I expected.

Upon reserving my unit online at a great online discount rate, the Manager, Amber, called me. We discussed the time I would be arriving and any questions or concerns I might have had. The initial contact made me feel welcome. Once I got to the Public Storage, she gave me a tour (very clean place by the way), told me everything I needed to know, repeated anything, assisted me with purchasing insurance and other items, was very thorough and patient, and smiled the whole time. Amber's customer service skills are exceptional! I think I hugged her before leaving the property. I'd recommend Public Storage to all but I'll have to say Amber's name and that particular location (10104 Capital Blvd., Wake Forest, NC 27587) because she was the face of Public Storage that day and she made her company look like a 10.

Do I need to rent a climate controlled unit?

If you have delicate items such as musical instruments, computers, pictures, antique wood furniture, it is recommended to select a climate controlled unit. Climate controlled storage units protect against rust, corrosion, mold, cracking, and warping.

What’s the difference between an indoor and an outdoor unit?An outdoor storage unit is one that has a direct access and usually drive-up accessible. An indoor unit is located within the building.

What items can't be put in a storage unit?

Most storage facilities will not let you store firearms, perishable items, liquids, illegal drugs, flammable and hazardous materials, live animals or plants.

Are my items insured while being in a storage unit?

You are responsible for the items that you store. Storage facility's insurance provides protection for the location that houses the storage units and not the contents of individual storage units. If your homeowner insurance doesn't cover your items, usually the facility manager will help you sign up with an insurance provider.

Can I use my renters insurance for a storage unit?

Anything your renter's insurance policy covers under usual conditions would be covered in your storage unit. Usually, renters insurance will cover items in a unit up to 10% of your policy limits, but the coverage does not include natural disasters. However, there may be exceptions to this, check with your insurance company to see if you're covered.

What do I need to bring with me when to rent a unit?

You will need a government-issued photo ID(driver’s license, state ID or passport) to complete your storage unit rental agreement.

Can I access my unit anytime I want?

Most storage locations are open 365 days a year, but access hours may vary. During access hours, usually between 6am – 10pm seven days a week, you can access your unit by using your individual gate code. During office hours, the company employees are available to answer questions and provide on-site support.

How long can I rent a unit?

Most rental contracts are month-to-month agreements and billed in one-month increments. No long-term lease is required unless the customer requests otherwise.
