There are big puddles in front of the door at building 2 after it rains. There was only 1 cart when I visited. I hope there are more but this worries me as my unit is very far from the door. Unit was clean and dry. Lighting wasn't working very well.

The day I was moving in I went and paid for my storage. Went home and packed up our cars with my stuff. Then when we got there the flood gates were down and could not get into my unit. There was a storm coming during the night and expected flood. I appreciate that they have flood gates. But didn't appreciate that I wasn't informed by either the employee or the company about the flood gates. I was told by the lady in the office that I rented the storage unit from that she didn't know that I could go in through the door number four and that the gates were going to be up at that time I when I called when we were outside the gates I was told we didn't there wasn't a way to get in to our unit I would have to wait till 12:00 the next day which when I got there at 12:00 the next day the floodgates were still down cuz it was still flooded which I appreciate that they do that but it just was a nightmare trying to get my stuff in there. Hoping for a better experience going forward and I'd be more informed about things that are going on there as to closures and things like that

Prime storage Salem offers a clean, well lit storage facility. They seem to find new ways to up the price on a regular basis. Prime purchased the company that I had originally contracted with. For my recent rental the phone agent was fast and helpful, but offered things that the Salem location couldn't follow through on. The Salem agent who checked me in was terse, oppositional, passive aggressive, and unhelpful. I needed space on short notice and they had space available, lucky I was looking for storage space and not a new BFF. It fit my current needs.

Customer service was very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. I would suggest bring a lock and mattress cover before you bring your items into the property. The locks are $20 and you can get a cheaper and better lock at Walmart. Otherwise a overall good experience.Clean and easy access to the facility. Purchase your items before hand, like locks covers etc. They are at the storage office for purchase, but you can get them cheaper elsewhere. You also have to consider in the price, insurance which is required. I suggest taking measurements on the items you are storing to insure your not paying for a larger unit than you need.

The place smells like homeless people are living in there. No restrooms since they are always locked. If you got a fair price for a unit in the beginning just wait awhile and they will raise it though the roof to as much as 50% of the original fee offered with or without a reduced offer. I paid full price to start without an offer and now more. Don't fall for the bait. The door on my unit was jammed and would not open or close properly. Nothing was done about it but a suggestion to move out. Over all I would not suggest anyone use this service.

Pleased with quality and security of the facility and the individual storage space. However, when Prime took ownership from Shetland, they raised the rent by 40%. Yes there were some advance notice but considering the cost and disruption for relocating to another storage facility and incurring that cost, or a 40% increase in rent is in my opinion unfair, especially in the midst of the pandemic. I asked about I plan to gradually increasing the rent over time, but the response was no, take it or leave it. According to my research, the monthly rents are at higher end of what the market will bear. IMO, Prime could have handled this a lot better and treated their customers fairly.

Increased my rent as soon as they took over from Shetland Storage by about 30%. Increase bill suddenly again in March , 2021, gave no leeway for an incorrect payment as I have my payments sent automatically My bank so that I don’t miss any payments, was not aware of the increase. They ended up charging me a total of $70 extra which I think, included charge for insurance. They have a letter from my insurance company from last year saying I have homeowners insurance I feel very difficult to deal with and can’t wait to get out.I also let them know that I am very preoccupied because I’m taking care of my sister, I just found out she has stage four pancreatic cancer , so it might take me a little longer to get to my Mail as I’m taking care of her almost around the clock Marie Feudo

Good afternoon, I will begin by saying that my storage unit has in fact been well temperature controlled as well as a safe environment thus far for my belongings. Credit where credit is due. My low rating is mostly due to poor customer service. I have called your company twice in January, was redirected, and then told I needed to leave a message with the manager of the facility. I understand that the general staff could or not allowed to answer my question. I never received a response from your company manager. It is now February. This is my concern....... I went to your website to look up the company number and realized you were offering the same unit as mine for half the price. I called to find out why, as a longtime customer, this price was not offered to existing clientele. It doesn't seem honest in my view. As expected, no return phone call or email was ever received. My disappointment will remain during my tenure at your facility.

The facility seems to be much less personal since prime has taken over. The website for payment is also really unpredictable. This month I was unable to even login and the design always seems to be changing. I had to make a mobile payment as I couldn’t access my unit invoice online and pay. I also checked on my unit size and the price that is being offered to new customers and I am paying more than that. I would think that long-standing customers would be offered the same price as anyone renting a new unit. I emailed your customer service about this and never got a response.

I’ve been using Shetland Self-Storage for close to a decade with no major complaints till recently when it changed over to Prime Storage. Customer service is still nice and helpful. Yet, I’m in disbelief that during a pandemic when many people are hurting, losing homes etc., they have decided to increase the rates. Whether they are just trying to make up for lost business or just being greedy, it sucks! It makes me feel like this is another uncaring big corp sticking it to the average person. I would recommend this place yet I would say shop around. Since they took over, I have had issues with moths and some leaks from pipes above, damage irreplaceable items, which is undoubtedly why they require you purchase insurance (another added yet good to have, cost). Only reason I don’t move is lack of funds and ability to have my stuff moved, plus its at a convenient location.

However; if pricing continues to go up I’m left with no choice to clean my area out-getting rid of many things I cherish. I just can’t afford the price to keep going up being on a fixed income. Even $11.00 means I have to re-arrange my budget. I’ve appreciated the staff getting rid of stuff left from people either moving in or out. I'm so thrilled with my storage unit! It's bigger than I was expecting (even though it's one of the smaller units) and it still fits tons of my stuff inside (with plenty of room to spare). I love having my unit to store things I can't part with but can store here to avoid clutter in my apartment. Also for switching things over with the seasons. The access hours here are convenient. The rental price seems to be fair and 100% worth the price in my opinion. I am also grateful that it's conveniently a 3 min walk from where I live. I have no complaints about this facility.. I highly recommend!

I am pestered with emails and calls every month to pay my rent. When I am called and then push a number to speak to someone I am asked to answer questions to "protect my identity". THEY CALLED ME! The prices and late fees are outrageous, especially compared to the prices before Prime bought the facility. They were immediately raised 40% and complaints to the Prime office in Saratoga, NY, go unanswered. I've explored alternatives but have so much in storage (three of the largest units) I'm nearly trapped, given the cost of moving. I spend $6000 a year there and feel like a homeless squatter. Recently I was with my assistant -- no other people anywhere near -- and told to ear my mask by one of the office workers. Why? So I don't infect my own unit? Ridiculous I can't wait to move out..

I've been pretty vocal and have written to the management about this. The pricing is good comparably, the place is clean, and the customer service - who ultimately don't seem to have a say or an influence - are great. However, there's a pandemic and this facility is the only provider (I'm not really sure what to call them) that hasn't considered that the pandemic may have affected their customer's ability to pay. I've heard that they have extended the time before they put a unit up for auction, but the $20 late fee is steep under normal circumstances and really unconscionable during a time of national crisis. So would I recommend Prime Storage? Not without also sharing the information I've written about here. Other places might be more expensive, but my guess is that this facility - and the corporation that owns it - have benefited handsomely from the hardship of many.

1. Clean and bright are good qualities. Significant price jump for monthly rent is not good at all (after you took over the facility). 2. Added insurance premium should be an option. After showing that our homeowner's insurance covers the rental unit you stopped charging that fee for a few months and then started charging it again. When the when the facility was owned by Shetland it was good. Now that prime has taken over, pricing went up 30% immediately. For 8 weeks last Summer the security doors were broken and never addressed and never fixed after I made multiple phone calls. I worked with a wonderful rep and got an excellent deal on a storage unit, super convenient and perfectly sized for my needs. The price I pay here was half of what I could get at a competing company, my items stay safe and dry, they have excellent customer service, and I can come and go as I please. The storage building itself can seem is a bit eerie if you are alone (with long empty hallways and lights turning on as you go from area to area) so just be aware of that. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them though.

When I entered the building to see my unit, I was amazed at how clean the entire building and my unit are. There are always plenty of pull carts. The staff I dealt with were totally professional. My former facility was double the cost and not 1/10th as clean. I totally trust Prime Storage with my belongings and am so glad I made the move!

The late fee alone is rediculous. I have been 3 days late and each time get charged an extra $30. I will be moving to a different storage space very soon.
