Moving is quite expensive, and many expenses don't come to mind immediately. This guide will walk you through some of the most commonly forgotten moving expenses.
The Most Overlooked Moving Expenses

This checklist focuses on the mistakes that cause the most delays, added costs, and damage during a move. Each item is included because it addresses a problem movers report often, such as unclear box labels that slow unloading, poor weight distribution that causes boxes to break, or missed utility transfers that disrupt move-in day.

The checklist follows the order in which most moves happen, so tasks appear when they are easiest to complete, not after they become problems.
Moving Dos and Don'ts

You should start planning for the transfer of your pet, as well as for your household belongings, as soon as you know you are going to move. Please note that local helpers and moving companies are not permitted to transport pets.

These guys are wonderful. When I was checking in (from a U-haul that I'd rented from them also), I needed help finding the correct bldg for my interior unit. Bruce escorted me not just to the building, but helped with my entrance code, walked me all the way back to my space and showed me how to work the combination lock, included with rental cost. At the time, I was hobbling around on a badly sprained ankle; they were kind enough to move me to an available unit closer to the exit, to shorten my walk. When moving in, I called Kiera, who works on-site, to ask for broom to sweep out a little dust that had collected around the edge of the unit, she said she'd be right up, and before I'd even had a chance to get back there, she called to tell me I was all set, she'd already come and swept out the unit! I appreciate how everyone there went above and beyond to be helpful and kind. Even the virtual manager who appears on-screen in their "office" and supplies retail area as soon as you enter, made the reservation and pay super easy using their iPads. She was friendly, funny, and made the process go smoothly. Midgard clearly cares about their customers. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

My gate code never worked. It was a pain trying to finally get ahold of someone. I was supposed to been contacted back with a new code but never was so I am still using the emergency code when I got to get in there. Price is a little high after the promotion runs out compared to others I've seen but facility is clean and taking care of it and is in a convenient location!

Find a Storage Unit For Rent Near You

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Townville, South Carolina is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout South Carolina, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs.

The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Townville, South Carolina.

  • Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.

  • For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.

  • Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.

  • Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.

  • Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.

  • The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.

  • Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
  • Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.

  • Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.

  • Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.

  • Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.

Are there free storage deals in Townville, South Carolina?

Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.

How do I find the cheapest storage in Townville?

You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.

What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
