- I rented a space for my rv, which was overdue on it's registration because in order to get tagged, it needed to pass inspection, which entailed a fair amount of expensive work. The entire reason I put it in storage was because I needed a place for it to go while I got the money together to fix the things needed to pass inspection. I was told by the manager that the storage king powers that be considered it to be illegally parked, even though it was on private property and not even in view of the road. I paid my bill on time every month, and any time I go to clean it or do any work, I get nit picked and nagged by the manager. There is a rusted out truck with flat tires with tags overdue by 2 years parked there, but I couldn't have my untagged rv that I was working on parked there. Major double standard. Also, you are only allowed access to your property from 6 am to 10 pm, which is not conducive to my schedule at all, and if you sign out even 10 minutes past ten you get reprimanded. I don't know of any other storage facilities that have as many rules (most of which are arbitrary and not realistic for most situations). I do not recommend this company at all.

- Everything good except price. Very expensive, more than other local storage businesses in area. However, closest to my home. Manager, David, is very informative, friendly, and helpful.

Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout North Carolina, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.

What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
Storage near the Wright Brothers Memorial and Outer Banks beaches is in high demand during peak tourist seasons. These attractions bring both short-term visitors and seasonal workers who often need temporary storage for personal items or work gear. Demand spikes in spring and summer, causing higher prices and limited availability nearby. Booking early or looking further inland can help you find better rates and availability.
Drive-up storage is ideal for First Flight Village residents, where narrow streets and limited parking make moving trucks hard to use. These units make it easy to unload oversized items like beach umbrellas, paddleboards, and fishing gear. They also protect equipment from wear caused by frequent hauling over rough coastal terrain.
