- I've been a customer since 2019 and I have paid over $10K in rent and insurance. My 10 by 20 unit cost me close to $500 a month by the time I moved out this April. When I went to empty my unit, I found many of my items covered in vermin droppings and urine and even a dead mouse body for good measure.
I filed a claim only to be told the insurance policy does not cover vermin, but they were willing to pay up to $250 to "cover" what I lost...oh and I am responsible for disposing the vermin infested items that were a direct result of their lack of pest control. I really wish they told me that there is zero pest control before I signed up.
I'm not sure if this is how all Public Storage properties operate but STAY AWAY from the public storage in Fairfield CT unless you want to pay a lot of money to have your materials damaged as was my experience.

- While the employees were wonderful, there were two customers, not handicapped, taking up the only two spaces available to someone like me. No handicapped sign in either of their windows. One followed me in the store and began harassing me, that I should just ask her to move. My point to her, not listened to of course, was that I shouldn't have to ask....it is illegal in the State of CT to park in handicap areas with no handicap sign. She became so irate the manager had to come out. The staff was not busy outside, they could easily walk around the corner and make sure no one is parking where they shouldn't.

Find a Storage Unit For Rent Near You
Finding and renting trusted self-storage facilities in Georgetown, Connecticut is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving a storage facility throughout Connecticut, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Georgetown, Connecticut.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations. Local experts can guide renters to facilities that stay available and maintain reliable service during peak demand.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location. Facilities with experienced staff often maintain stronger daily oversight by monitoring access logs and responding quickly to tenant concerns.
Are there free storage deals in Georgetown, Connecticut?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Georgetown?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
